healthy and trendy starbucks drinks: what you should order next

As a college student, Starbucks visits are a weekly, if not a daily, morning routine. Although caffeine might give you an extra kick to start the day, their handcrafted drinks are often packed with unnecessary sugar and fat. If you’re on the hunt for healthier Starbucks options, look no further; we’ve got you covered!

Violet Drink

Maybe you’ve tried the Pink Drink a thousand times and want to change things up. Maybe you’re not a coffee fan and have no idea what to get from Starbucks. Either way, the Violet Drink is the perfect option. Made with coconut milk and the Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher, a grande size of this drink is less than 20 grams of sugar.

Grande Nonfat Latte

For those who don’t like their drinks very sweet, a grande nonfat latte might do the trick. With enough espresso to keep you going, this drink still maintains a little sweetness from the skim milk, equalling only 130 calories.

Iced Green Tea Lemonade

Under 100 calories, the Iced Green Tea Lemonade is a refreshing choice any time of the year. This is also a good drink to start off with if you want to start drinking tea but are still used to a lot of sweetener.

Cold Brew with Cascara Cold Foam

Starbucks’ Cold Brew is insanely good. A smooth brew with a hint of maple and vanilla flavor, the Cold Brew with Cascara Cold Foam really hits the spot and is a good treat-yourself option if you usually go for a flavored iced coffee. It also only has 17 grams of sugar and 80 calories in a grande!

Almond Milk Honey Flat White

With a hint of honey, this drink is a naturally sweetened version of the flat white. Ordering it with almond milk is a good option for lots of people who prefer to stay away from dairy. It’s a low sugar and low fat option, but still has 130mg of caffeine to keep you going throughout the day.

Mango Dragonfruit Refresher

Most people have heard about the Strawberry Acai Refresher (another great healthy option), but this lesser-known drink is also a fantastic choice. A combination of mango and dragon fruit flavors, the refresher also contains a scoop of real diced dragonfruit. Better yet, it’s also under 100 calories.

Any drink… with half the syrup!

It may be a little awkward at first to ask for a customized drink, but it’s worth it. You can make your favorite drink healthier by simply asking for half the amount of syrup and changing out your milk for a lower calorie option, like soy or almond. My personal favorite is a grande iced soy latte with two pumps of vanilla. For reference, most tall drinks have three pumps of syrup, grandes have four and ventis have five. I find that half the amount of syrup is sweet enough, and it’s a good way to treat yourself to your favorite beverages without feeling guilty.
