This summer, we all want to get away from the pressures of the real world. With so much uncertainty in these hard times, a hopeful escape from reality is needed and the upcoming menswear trends for Spring/Summer 2021 reflect this idea. Want to be the first to know what is trending for the warmer seasons? Well, take a dive into the newest looks so you can expect what is coming up.

Simplicity has been very trendy lately, however, designers took a unique approach this upcoming season by using bold prints and patterns for their collections. Nautical stripes, psychedelic florals, graphic block prints, bandana paisley, and digitally printed images, all gave us a fantastical new outlook. There were also some different takes on camouflage for the upcoming seasons.

Designer, Dion Lee, showed us that camo can be fab, not drab. As far as the color palette goes, there were a lot of bright colors compared to past seasons. Muted colors are leaving the scene and we’re replacing them with tasteful pops of neon and pastels.

Photocopy graphics are also getting big. English designer, Neil Barrett, uses realistic imagery in his Spring 2021 collection. Retro graphics have been trendy for many seasons now. However, this season they’re taking on a new form.

Casablanca, a Parisian brand, gives off coastal vibes with its vividly, colorful graphics. Their S/S 2021 collection transports us to the Pacific Islands with imagery like palm trees, hibiscus flowers, cruise ships, and psychedelic-inspired sunsets. Head designer, Charaf Tajer, gave us an optimistic outlook with his new collection, all inspired by resort life and luxurious hotels.

As far as silhouettes go, boxy is the new wave. Relaxed fit pants with oversized tees and hoodies are going to be popular. Say goodbye to slim-fit tees and hello to the new oversized style.

Polo shirts are also making their comeback this season. Gucci shows us a retro revival with their Spring 2021 collection. According to the trend forecasting site, WGSN, hem lengths are going to shrink. Tops are getting more cropped and shorts are getting shorter. The iconic cargo pant is getting a revamp as well. British fashion label, JW Anderson, shows us a fresh take on workwear. Utility is a permanent theme in menswear but this year it’s getting a modern makeover with more pockets and a wider leg.

Classic footwear is making its way back into the market with a contemporary take. Loafers and boat shoes have made their way back into the mainstream. Fendi shows us that this trend is the perfect way to make your casual outfit look more cohesive.

Sandals and slides are cooler than ever. Japanese brand, Suicoke, makes socks and sandals look chic with their incredible footwear. Designers are also giving accessories their time to shine. Cross body bags, lanyard wallets and cinched backpacks were all spotted on the runway.

As we look forward to the warmer weather, we can expect to see relaxed trends in menswear. The themes presented by designers gave us an effortlessly cool vibe. Classic menswear mixed with contemporary silhouettes will be the new inspiration for every guy’s wardrobe.
