growing up: november editorial
The concept of “growing up” is an area of uncharted territory. It is a period of our lives meant for exploration, experimentation, and identifying who we are… But where did this period start, and where does it end? This era of my life began with pulling clothes out of my mom’s closet and putting on one-woman fashion shows in my living room. I started off only dressing up as the women I saw around me, but this “game” quickly became a catalyst for self-expression.
The vivid color, layering, and personality of this editorial is all reflective of freedom in style. Using unconfined silhouettes and varying textures, we welcomed curiosity to our mix. Exploring personal style is like peeling back layers of yourself, finding new constituents of who you are in each garment and accessory. We invited our models to apply this youthful curiosity and fearlessness on the playground, as well. Just like children cross new bridges on a playground, we face new experiences, endure obstacles, and learn more about ourselves each day. If we are ever-evolving people, does the period of “growing up” ever truly come to an end?
