When it comes to being a pop star, there is no doubt fashion goes along with the art of music. Taylor Swift has her sparkles and Harry Styles has his boas. Currently in everyone’s Ticketmaster queue is up-and-coming pop-princess Sabrina Carpenter, beginning her “Short n’ Sweet” tour.
In an interview with Variety, Carpenter states the ambiance she is trying to create with this new era: “I love the faces of the ’60s and ’90s — old Hollywood, flirty and fun,” Carpenter says. “This is definitely the vibe of my album,” she continued. This tour contains some of her biggest career hits such as “Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” and “Taste.” With these songs in mind, fans have devised ways to embody the pop star and her most popular tour fits to make her style achievable.
Starting off the tour in Columbus, Ohio on Sept. 23, Carpenter set the stage in breathtaking outfits, and fans have already recognized her signature style. Mimicking Carpenter’s pastel and bedazzled body suits, there is an abundant amount of light yellows, pinks, blues, glittery dresses and skirts parading around her venues. The official Instagram hub of all things Sabrina (@teamsabrina on Instagram), even assembled their own styling board to give attendees more inspo.
While Sabrina encourages us to wear our hearts on our sleeves through her music, her style inspires us to ‘literally’ wear our hearts. Her iconic cut-out heart, corseted dress, has inspired tons of DIY tutorials and ‘dupes’ of the original design made by Ukranian designer, Ivan Frolov. Frolov was able to capture the essence of her last tour, “Emails I Can’t Send” through embellished crystals and beautiful lace accents. The aim for these dresses is simple: short, with a butter yellow or baby pink color and, of course, bedazzled all around. Paired with frilly socks and a white platform boot, her signature look can be achieved by styling these pieces together.
If your goal is to embody a version of her style rather than an exact outfit, there are tons of inspiration posts on Instagram. You can even take notes from people who have already gone to her concerts this year. Mini skirts and dresses seem to be some of the most popularly worn garments, obviously accompanied by a bow and sparkly accessories. Most recently, I was browsing on Etsy and came across a customizable bow that not only had “Short n’ Sweet” screen printed on it but also had the option to add the date of your show and the city. This is an awesome way to personalize the outfit and really make it your own.
With all the cute and sparkly dresses in mind, Carpenter recommends that fans only bring in clear bags, as those are the only types of bags accepted into big stadium arenas. Although it’s sad to have to ditch the pink and glittery bags, there are still chances for clear bags to be just as fun to accessorize with. Tons of different types of clear bags are available on Amazon, some even in the shape of a heart to pull the outfit together. Sometimes clear bags can be the way to go—they can put the focus back onto the outfit, instead of steering the eye away from it.
While the “Short n’ Sweet” tour has already begun, there is still time to grab last-minute additions to your outfit. As assembling your outfit is one of the most fun concert preparations, it is also equally important to fully experience the concert itself. Make sure the outfit is cute, yet comfortable, so you can dance and sing all night long.
