Who knew watching paint dry could be so interesting? It’s been almost three years since the release of GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo, and she’s starting to hint at upcoming music.
It all started with a wall. On March 13, the side of the mural wall on Melrose Avenue was painted the signature Olivia Rodrigo purple with a new “OR” logo, an obvious change from her previous one. Following the wall, her website then changed to the new logo and the same shade of purple, an obvious confirmation that the OR on Melrose is referencing the pop star.
This continued for an entire week. Painting crews would change the purple to a lighter hue, and her website would change with it. However, the seemingly final installment of the wall change came when it was painted a light pink shade, with the word “love” painted across it.
Olivia Rodrigo is associated with her specific purple, so this new pink color is an obvious nod to a new, and very different, era.
The Vanity Fair Oscar Party took place on March 15, and Rodrigo arrived in an all pink dress. To the general public this may seem like nothing, but her fans know it means more.
With the hint of a new era, it was only a matter of time before her hotline changed. By this, I mean the SOUR hotline—a phone number originally made for marketing efforts for the SOUR album. She has carried on this tradition through each of her announcements, and the new era is no different.
A small snippet of the hotline currently says, “Take what resonates and leave what does not. Waiting for your destiny may feel like watching paint dry, but your patience will be rewarded soon. You may think you have all the answers, but the universe has more to share. The writing is on the wall, but the first message may not paint the full picture. Trust your intuition. Expect true clarity and renewal just after the Pink Moon. Until then, follow the stars, your guides and your heart, knowing that the best is yet to come.”
In this short message alone, the voicemail made several references to current “easter eggs” of the era rollout. It references watching paint dry, writing on the wall, the first message, and more. A new hint in the voicemail is a reference to the “Pink Moon.”
At first it seemed like a reference to the new pink color, but considering that the Pink Moon falls on April 1, 2026, fans are speculating that an announcement will take place within the following days. If you want to hear the message for yourself, dial 323-622-SOUR.
Although these hints started within the last month, there have been easter eggs for months that some fans are just now connecting the dots to.
These hints go all the way back to June 2025, when Rodrigo was doing her festival run. During the Manchester show of her Guts World Tour: Spilled, Rodrigo wore an encore shirt that read “Did you get that hint?” after wearing a pink sequin custom set.
Her shows last summer also allowed for one more obvious hint. At the Glastonbury show, Rodrigo performed with Robert Smith from The Cure. And on September 8, 2025, Rodrigo released Friday I’m In Love / Just Like Heaven (Live From Glastonbury). Looking back on the single, the cover art features the exact same font that is currently used on her website, as well as the wall art.
To take a turn away from the old hints, the most recent hint was that Rodrigo cleared her entire Instagram account today, April 1, 2025. It is the five-year anniversary of the Deja Vu single, and she cleared her entire Instagram for that announcement as well.
If there is one thing Rodrigo’s team knows how to do, it is create an interesting album rollout that turns everyone’s attention to the possibility of new music. Today is the Pink Moon, so we will just have to wait and see what comes next. The new era of Olivia Rodrigo is officially here.
