monochrome neutral
This shoot ended up being all about going with the flow. We had to do some adapting during the shoot because of a wind advisory and the fact that the backdrop also apparently doubles as a sail. Despite the wind, we all embraced the 65 degree day in between days of snow and rain. As someone whose mood is frequently reliant on the weather, this shoot represents the hope of warm weather and green leaves and brightly-colored flowers. Initially, the theme for the shoot was supposed to be about motion and simplicity, with a focus on very simple, neutral styling, but it ended up being far more about our own flexibility with the wind and going with the flow. The fact that my idea morphed into something that was notably different but still remained true to the initial concept ended up inspiring me more than my first ideas had. I hope that this shoot can be the breath of fresh air for you that it was for us!
A Light exists in Spring
By Emily Dickinson
A Light exists in Spring
Not present on the Year
At any other period —
When March is scarcely here
A Color stands abroad
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.
It waits upon the Lawn,
It shows the furthest Tree
Upon the furthest Slope you know
It almost speaks to you.
Then as Horizons step
Or Noons report away
Without the Formula of sound
It passes and we stay —
A quality of loss
Affecting our Content
As Trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a Sacrament.
