Over the course of earning my degree in fashion merchandising, I’ve had the opportunity to study in Germany, Paris, Florence, New York City and Hong Kong. On top of these ‘home bases,’ I spent my weekends traveling to new countries and exploring cultures. Being a fashion student, one of the first things about a culture I notice is how they dress.
In Italy, I found the clothing to be casual yet classic and refined, using neutral colors. In Paris, slim pants, a graphic t-shirt, blazer and sneakers seemed to be the popular trend. Then, the more fashion-forward Europeans seemed to follow the trends of the runway or Vogue. When I came to Asia, I was amazed. Streetwear brands like Supreme, Hypebeast and all Off-White couldn’t be more popular. However, some of the Asian styles is extremely girly and innocent, which I saw mostly in Seoul.
With every culture dressing so different, I thought it would be fun to learn where people gain their fashion inspiration, and through this series of interviews, I went out to do just that.
