Curvy Insta’s Worth the Follow

Denise+Bidot
Denise Bidot

Here at A Mag, we are living for this body-positivity movement. All shapes and sizes are flowing throughout this world, as well as on our very own campus. There is nothing worse than seeing people get put down for their lumps and bumps. I say, if you’ve got curves, flaunt them! Loving every inch of my body has been so empowering, and I want others to feel the liberation that comes with self-acceptance.

Luckily, the widespread embracement of the plus-size and curvy crusade has made it easier to gain confidence. Important elements of this movement include uplifting messages, the positive portrayal of curvy women in the media, and the stocking of stylish plus-size clothes in prominent fashion shops. One group that goes hand-in-hand with all three of these aspects are plus size models.

Keeping up with these models and following them on social media platforms has been an important part of my experience, because they preach that plus-size doesn’t need to have a negative connotation attached to it. Seeing these beautiful, strong ladies in action is an inspiration for everyone. Some of the well-known plus-size models you might recognize are Ashley Graham, Tess Holiday, and Jordyn Woods. These women are essential in the plus-size world, but don’t forget– the perfection doesn’t stop there! Below is a list of some of my other favorite curvy girls’ Instagrams for you to checkout.

Nadia Aboulhosn:

First up is Nadia. She was the first plus-size model I followed on Instagram, and I could never imagine going back. She is gorgeous, her fashion is on point, and her curves are killer. She has modeled for Boohoo, H&M, Seventeen Magazine, and others. Right now, the Lebanese model lives in L.A., where she not only models, but runs her successful blog and designs clothes. She just recently designed a collection for Addition Elle that was showcased at NYFW. Her Instagram is full of photo shoots, unrivaled selfies, and videos with her boyfriend, JR, that screams goals.

Gabi Gregg:

I only refer to this next model as her Instagram and blog name: gabifresh (it is just too good). For Gabi, it all started when she created her fashion blog in 2008 after she graduated from college with an interest in fashion and journalism. In 2010, she became a “Twitter Jockey” for MTV and soon developed a following. She began modeling for InStyle and Target’s Plus-Size collection, Ava and Viv. Gabi now has her own line of breath-taking swimsuits for SwimsuitsForAll. Gabi’s Instagram will give you serious inspiration for travel (especially her last trip to Greece for her birthday), working a ‘fatkini’ and pantsuit fashion.

Denise Bidot:

This Puerto Rican and Middle Eastern stunner went from trying to make it in the world of acting, to being a makeup guru and finally landing on plus-size modeling. She has done modeling for Forever 21, Levi’s, Nordstrom, and has walked countless runways, including many during NYFW. My favorite and most recent campaign of hers is for Lane Bryant’s “This Body.” In this dreamy photo shoot/commercial, Denise radiates. When you head over to her Instagram, you will be able to take a peek into Denise’s life of strutting her stuff, baring it all, and being a serious inspiration to us all.

Tara Lynn:

Tara Lynn is quite literally an angel in my eyes. This beauty has been a cover girl for distinguished magazines like Vogue Italia and Elle France, and she has appeared in V Magazine, Glamour, and Cosmopolitan. Tara has also modeled for like likes of H&M, Torrid, and Addition Elle. Along with Denise Bidot and Ashley Graham, Tara was featured in “This Body” campaign. Recently, she can be spotted in Fergie’s “MILF” music video. Tara’s Instagram showcases perfect mirror selfies and some serious hair goals.

Olivia Campbell:

This last girl isn’t interested in the curvy label; she would rather just be called fat. In Campbell’s video put on by The What’s Underneath Project, she mentions that fat is just a descriptive word, and she no longer sees it as a bad thing. The London-based model radiates confidence and beauty. She truly is someone I admire. She has modeled for Monif C., Slink Magazine, and others. Olivia’s Instagram is a lingerie heaven, and the woman can really rock a jumpsuit.

All of the women mentioned throughout this article have helped my personal confidence so much, and for that I thank them. They have taught me that being comfortable in your own skin and feeling sexy go hand-in-hand. I encourage you all to not only check out their amazing Instagrams, but also hit that follow button. I promise, you will not regret it.
