Even though we are all facing the challenges COVID-19 has brought, the show must go on and for the New York Fashion Week this past week, the show certainly did.

NYFW ran from Sunday, Sept. 13 though Thursday, Sept. 17, but looked extremely different compared to previous fashion weeks. Most collections consisted of having lookbooks or were digital showings via live stream. However, even corona couldn’t stop designers from creating masterpieces and exciting trends to follow once the spring 2021 season rolls around.

With that being said, here are some of the top trends from the New York Fashion Week Spring 2021 runway.

Print Power

From floral to stripes to polka dots to animal print, this NYFW was print galore — and we love to see it. During such a challenging time in our lives, it was like a breath of fresh air to see apparel so bright, positive and full of life. Labels such as Collina Strada, Snow Xue Gao and Tom Ford mixed and matched prints together so tastefully that we can’t help but be excited to invest in our own print apparel to mix and match this upcoming spring.

Casually Suited

For all you suit fans out there, don’t worry! Suits are here to stay. However, for this spring instead of going for the traditional tailored look, try to go for something a little more loose fitting. We are currently in a season with a big emphasis on ease and comfort, and that most certainly translated with a lot of the suiting for these different collections.

Keep it Comfortable

After spending months in sweatpants and oversized apparel, how could loungewear not make it onto the runway? Luxe pajamas and silky sweats made multiple appearances this season from labels such as Tom Ford, Apiece Apart and Veronica Beard. Loungewear has become a big part of our everyday fits, so it’s not a surprise to see designers putting their own spin on this trend.

Free the Bra

That’s right, bra tops are in. Typically worn with high waisted bottoms, layered under a jacket or knit cardigan, bra tops were styled to another level for this NYFW. Some labels kept it simple by keeping it as a stand alone top such as Christian Siriano and Rosetta Getty. Other labels used bra tops to layer over dresses and entire outfits like Jason Wu. Regardless of how you style it, bra tops are sure to be a must-have for our wardrobe come spring time.

Show Some Skin

After spending months wearing nothing but loungewear and living in comfort, it’s about time to take off some layers and show a little skin. However, cutouts for this spring are more than just exposed shoulders or an open back. Cutouts at the waist and under the bust line seem to be a huge trend this upcoming spring, as seen from labels like Jacquemus, Sandy Liang and Maisie Wilen.
