It’s that time of the year again when we enjoy what some would call the most entertaining of all awards shows: the Oscars. What better way to celebrate than hosting a watch party with girlfriends? And sorry, but most of us are dying to snack on some fancy food, sip on a cocktail and play some Oscars-inspired games. We’ve put together a list of last-minute drinks, desserts, appetizers and party games for the awards show.

We know you’re craving something salty to snack on during the red carpet. And heating up a bag of popcorn in the oven is just… basic. To step it up a notch, we’ve combined our favorite snacks (cupcakes and popcorn) to create the perfect snack to munch on while your favorite stars strut the carpet.

  • Striped Paper Cups
  • 1 Box Cupcake Mix (we’re partial to chocolate, duh)
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • Honey

Follow the directions to bake your cupcakes in red and white striped paper cups. Gently brush honey over the tops. Arrange mini marshmallows on the dome of the cupcake, layering some on top of the other. Set your oven to broil, and carefully watch the marshmallows brown and “puff” up for just a few seconds.

If you’re into snack foods that guarantee your focus on the show, try dry-roasting your own nuts with cayenne pepper, curry powder and mustard seed and because we know you’re stocked on Ramen, adding in a bag with the mix is super crunchy and quick to satisfy cravings.

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 1 cup raw peanuts
  • 1 cup raw cashews
  • 3 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 packages of Ramen, broken into pieces
  • 1 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp mustard seed

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Toss all ingredients until evenly coated. Sprinkle a pinch more of curry, cayenne, and mustard seed over top of ingredients for an extra kick. Bake 10 minutes, stirring halfway through. Cool and serve.

The best way to complete a perfect Oscars party is with a cute cocktail. Homemade champagne poured into clear plastic party glasses is a simple way to indulge. Just take base wine, then add yeast and sugar to convert the added sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide. Add some sparkle to your homemade glass of bubbly. Tape stencil tape and wrap it around your glass where you want the glitter to stop. Paint the glue with a paintbrush below the line of the stencil tape. Sprinkle the glitter all over the glued area. Wait an hour for it to dry and then add another layer of glue over the sparkly area to allow it to stick. After another hour of drying, remove the tape and cheers to your new Oscar-worthy glassware!

For a non-alcoholic drink, a healthy and festive fruit punch is the way to go.

  • 4 cups of tonic water
  • 3 cups of ice cubes
  • 2 cups of chilled pineapple juice
  • 2 cups of chilled orange juice
  • 2 cups of chilled light cranberry juice cocktail
  • A sliced lime and orange

Combine all of the ingredients and serve immediately for a tropical drink.

Now that you have gathered all the important stuff (yes, we’re talking about the food and drink) you can spruce up your space and make it fit for all your A-list guests. Just like any other Hollywood event, photos will be snapped, so make the best of it and create a red carpet photobooth. We advise seeking out anything shimmery, glittering and bright to use as a backdrop. This could be streamers, star cutouts or even gold balloons, any and all will push the gal pals to step up and pose. If they are attainable, a handful of disposable cameras are highly recommended, they will allow for everyone to take home some creatively captured moments at the end of the night.

In contemporary society, we thrive off of a little healthy competition and quite honestly, is it really the perfect watch party without some games? Amp up your Oscar night by printing off some ballots and having your guests pick their favorite winners before the show begins. You can create an optional buy-in jar to really up the stakes; whoever chooses the most winners correctly by the end of the night takes all the cash. If no one is feeling risky enough to bet their life savings on ‘Best Actor’, supply winners with mini Oscar awards (available here: Oscars) or a goody bag full of little surprises.

During the red carpet, have guests compete for best dressed alongside the celebs and roll out the Oscar bingo as your are waiting for awards to be handed out and speeches to be spoken. Fill your squares with things such as ‘the winner cried’ or better yet, ‘the loser cried.’ Cover up the spaces with edible treats like M&M’s or Skittles.

With all of this, you are still able to attain a fun and glamorous night of watching your favorite awards show without having to leave the comfort of your home. As long as you cover everything in gold and glitter and gather your very best friends, you will be set for a night in Hollywood. So, sit back, relax and enjoy the music of Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Sting and Lin-Manuel Miranda performing their nominated songs at the 2017 Oscars.
