For this shoot, I asked three models to collaborate with me to show what femininity means to each of them. They pulled clothes from their own closets to represent their feminine sides and personal styles. At the shoot, I asked each model what femininity looks like to them.

For Chloé, she describes her mom as the essence of femininity for her. Many of their pieces in this shoot were from their mom, including some of their jewelry. Chloé has an edgy, fierce style that encapsulates what being feminine means to them.

For Karisah, what defines femininity for her is her hair. She said growing up, she straightened her hair every day to try to fit into societal norms. Now, she lets her hair down and full, feeling comfortable in her beautiful self.

For Olivia, she channeled her inner child to represent her feminine style. She says over time she grew comfortable in her own skin and wears clothes she wishes she would have been comfortable wearing when she was younger, which shows in her fun, colorful style choices.

Women are too often put in a box, told what they can and can’t do, what they can and can’t wear. Femininity is nuanced, and these models helped me showcase the beauty in individuality and expressing yourself as you want.
